World’s Most Sustainable Data Storage
We are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and promoting sustainable practices in data storage.
Data storage and Climate Change
The rapid growth of global data generation poses a significant challenge to climate sustainability due to the energy-intensive nature of data storage. Data centers, which house the infrastructure for cloud services and digital storage, consume vast amounts of electricity. This footprint is expected to rise sharply with the proliferation of AI, IoT, and video streaming going forward. Moreover, even inactive or 'cold' data requires ongoing storage and backup, adding to long-term emissions. The high embodied carbon of manufacturing storage devices like SSDs and servers also contributes to the problem.
"An estimated 68% of all worlds data is only used once. Some is ‘digital garbage’ and could be deleted. Other needs to be kept for longer periods of time but should be offloaded to more sustainable storage systems."
Never Migrate Again
One of the most time-consuming tasks in data centres involves constantly migrating data from one server or storage medium to another. This process requires a great deal of electricity.
Truly Offline
The offline storage medium can be kept on a shelf, in a vault or in any other location, provided that basic guidelines are followed. No power or cooling is required.
Permanent to Last
It is a true write-once-read-many (WORM) storage media that maintains the information as it was stored and does not require energy to be kept permanent.
It’s Time for Digital Decarbonisation
The environmental cost of “dark data” being collected, processed and stored but only used once is massive. As a hidden factor, there is a need to adopt to a digital decarbonisation strategy to mitigate for these negative impacts.
“Every email, photograph, and file we save to the cloud requires electricity, which often comes from burning fossil fuels.”- Prof. Tom Jackson and Prof. Ian R. Hodgkinson from Loughborough University (2022)

Simple Retrieval
All the information needed for future access is stored on the media itself. It is self-contained, meaning you don't have to expend energy today to access it tomorrow.
